The first MARIO THE BAKER™ was opened in 1969
in North Miami - Florida, by Mario Sciriniello. After
Salvatore Siragusa and two partners bought the Restaurant
sit in, carry out, delivery and catering, the business
has grown from a single Restaurant sit in, carry out,
delivery and catering in North Miami, to a 3 Restaurants
sit in, carry out, delivery and caterings in Coral
Gables, Doral and Downtown Miami plus two carry out, delivery
and catering stores in Aventura , Doral and Downtown
Miami all with headquarters in Miami.
He has applied his drive and the MARIO THE BAKER™
staffs’ knowledge and skills to guide successfully
the food service operations.
When Mario Sciriniello opened his first MARIO THE
BAKER 36 years ago in North Miami he immediately knew
that it was going to be a very successful operation.
In 1995 he hired his “paesano” friend
Salvatore Siragusa to manage the Restaurant sit in,
carry out, delivery and catering with the idea to
open an other MARIO THE BAKER in Wellington – Florida.
Deciding to move over there in 2000 he sold the Restaurant
sit in, carry out, delivery and catering in North
Miami to his friend who got all the experience and
knolegement during those 5 years managing the Restaurant
sit in, carry out, delivery and catering.
Salvatore (Sal) kept all the original recipes, cooking
techniques, quality of the products, without changing
anithing with what 36 years ago Mario The Baker started
the business.
He knew that MARIO THE BAKER unchanged food and service
has earned it loyal custo-mers through the years.
It is why not even a fire could slow people's cravings
for MARIO THE BAKER's pizza and garlic rolls.
Last August, lightning struck the North Miami institution,
which has been in business for more than three decades.
The bolt struck the sign on top of the roof at about
8 p.m. on a Sunday and, the place was packed as usual.
Sal had trouble clearing the Restaurant sit in, carry
out, delivery and catering because some didn't want
to leave their meal behind.
And many became impatient over the next four months
while the Restaurant sit in, carry out, delivery and
catering was closed for repairs.
MARIO THE BAKER got daily calls wondering when, how
soon, how fast it would reopen.
That day came in December - and MARIO THE BAKER was
once again packed, as usual.
What keeps people coming back is the New York-style
pizza and fresh garlic bread. The secret is using
only the best products and
sticking with the original recipe from when MARIO
THE BAKER first opened in 1969; consistency in the
quality of the product, service and reasonable prices,''
Mario boasts the ``best pizza in the world,'' and
customers seem to agree. ``We go away for five months
in the summer, and when we are up north that is all
we think about - how can we get one of these pizzas,''
said Jackie Holmes, who eats at MARIO THE BAKER two
to three times a week.
MARIO THE BAKER sells between 250 and 300 pizzas daily
and about 100 dozen garlic rolls. And if you plan
to come to eat on a weekend, plan to wait.
MARIO THE BAKER doesn't just stick to pizzas. It also
offers a wide range of pasta dishes from baked ziti
to linguine with clam sauce. While the kids dive into
pizza, parents can have something a little more sophisticated.
Like the pizzas, the focus with pasta is on quality.
Only the best cheese and tomatoes make it through
the kitchen to the tables.
Whatever MARIO THE BAKER is doing, it's working. There
are now other Mario’s The Baker, located in
Aventura, Doral, Coral Gables and Downtown
Miami.
